  1. Welcome to the November issue of the JCS Marketing, Inc. 
  2. "Shareware Collection (tm)" CD-ROM.
  3.  
  4. The following are new features in this issue:
  5.  
  6. NEW PROGRAMS and AUTHORS
  7.  
  8. We have 2715 programs from 1003 authors.  This is over 1100 new programs 
  9. added to the previous issue of May 1993.  Many of the existing programs 
  10. were updated.
  11.  
  12. NEW/UPDATED/ORIGINAL Designations, and FILTERING:
  13.  
  14. The ALPHA.TXT and CLASS.TXT files, available for printing, have a new
  15. code (N,U,O) for (N)EW/(U)PDATED/(O)RIGINAL.  This code is also included 
  16. in the program and text search selection screen described below.  We did 
  17. not capture early updates, especially during May and June, so some programs 
  18. may not be noted as updated.  We will accurately capture the designations 
  19. for the next issue.

  21. TEXT SEARCH of PROGRAM NAME and DESCRIPTION, and FILTERING
  22.  
  23. A new control screen is now active, and allows for User control of program 
  24. selections, and of what will be displayed for the selection process.  It is
  25. now possible to request a textual search of an index file, and to find a 
  26. character match on program name and/or description.  For example, the 
  27. following might be selected if "EDIT" is entered as the text on which
  28. to search:

  44. Note that The "EDIT" search word might find a program name, such as 
  45. "CMEditor", or a description, such as "Editor", or it may give you a surprise
  46. like selecting "CREDIT", such as in "Credit Fix".
  47.  
  48. If desired, a "FILTER" may be set to allow selection of (N)ew, (U)pdates,
  49. (B)oth new and updates, or (A)ll programs, to assist searches for 
  50. new/changed programs.  Note, however, that when set to one of the above 
  51. codes, the filter remains until changed or the program is restarted.

  53. COLOR CONTROL:
  54.  
  55. In the opening screen for the JCSM program, a new option to 
  56. change screen colors is available.  Select "C" to begin the change 
  57. procedure.  If you have installed on your hard disk, the changes are 
  58. permanent until changed again.  If not, you must change the colors 
  59. each time.

  61. LHArc (Version 2.13) USED AS THE COMPRESSION ENGINE:
  62.  
  63. Our thanks to the Authors of LHA for making the program available for 
  64. our use.  LHA is a "freeware" copyrighted program used in terms as 
  65. defined by Yoshi. 
  66.  
  67. FILE DIRECTORIES and TXT FILE SCREEN DISPLAYS WITHOUT EXTRACTING:
  68.  
  69. Three new options are now available at the time that programs can be 
  70. extracted:
  71.  
  72.    D - Do a directory of the LZH file selected.
  73.    V - (V)iew a text file within the LZH file selected.
  74.    P - (P)rint a text file within the LZH file selected to LPT1.
  75.  
  76. Note that a short work file is created and deleted in the main 
  77. directory of the "C" drive to support these features.
  78.  
  79. TOTALLY REVISED DIRECTORY STRUCTURE:
  80.  
  81. The programs are now arranged by classification, rather than by the 
  82. original JCS Marketing internal naming structure.  Probably not very 
  83. important to individual users, but critical to BBS operators.  See the 
  84. file CLASSDIR.TXT for a directory list.

  86. BBS COMPATIBILITY:
  87.  
  88. This disk is now BBS compatible, with the following included:
  89.  
  90.   - programs in directories by classification.
  91.   - The LZH names relate to the program name.
  92.   - FILES.BBS is included in each sub-directory.  The date reflected is
  93.     the JCSM processing date, not the Author's program effective date.
  94.  
  95. FEATURES PLANNED FOR FUTURE RELEASES:

  97.   - Mouse Support.
  98.  
  99.   - LOTS MORE PROGRAMS!  IF you have a favorite which is not included,
  100.     please send us the Author's name and address, and we will be happy
  101.     to contact them for a copy and permission.  As it is, we are receiving
  102.     150-200 programs per month.  Let your favorite author know about us!
